OEM are the parts made by Original Equipement Manufacturer for Honda, it can be manufactured in Japan by Honda, or by Honda Thailand, Honda Taiwan, Honda USA etc....

The so called "taiwan parts" is actually referring to knockoff. A knockoff is something duplicated from the original mold unofficially by unauthorized aftermarket manufacterers. Replica or Knockoff usually are poor in quality, poor in fitment. The only thing good about them is the price, they are so cheap because it's duplicated by aftermarket manufacturers who don't have proper tooling and they don't pay license to Honda.

It's very odd that Malaysia regards Taiwan parts as knockoff. Mainly because in the old days, most knockoff are made in Taiwan. Taiwan do have their own OEM manufacturer for Honda Taiwan, knockoff are made by unauthorised dealer.

Even though we keep saying taiwan parts as knockoff, actuall those poorly made knockoff are actually manufactured in Malaysia by some cheap company.

The knockoff from Taiwan for latest FD models are exceptionally good, especially body kits.

Back to the topic, the used Japan vi-rs parts are so cheap and abandoned in the markets right now, why wait? Ask sasuke.

When I did my full in and out conversion back in 2001, I was so proud because I was one of the couple that have done that. Everyone was starring on my car whenever I go and keep asking how did I do that? Was it an imported civic?

Now, converted vi-rs is like wira or waja every where, a lots of them are horriblly done.

It makes me feel bad to drive EK again. laugh.gif
